Discussions
Here is a small selection of discussion videos I produced at Kotaku ranging from interviews to my series Viewpoints.
Viewpoints: The State of Console Gaming
Kotaku’s Editor-in-Chief Stephen Totilo and I sat down to discuss the current state of console gaming leading up to the next generation.
Meet Sonicfox, The Queer Furry Who’s Destroying Everyone Else At Fighting Games
I had the pleasure of working with the illustrious Maddy Myers to help produce a video interview with one of gaming’s biggest stars: Sonicfox. They took us through their start and a look at what’s to come for their bright future ahead.
Tetris Effect Interview with Tetsuya Mizuguchi and Mark MacDonald (Part 1 and Part 2)
I had the pleasure of interviewing two individuals whose careers have impacted mine immensely. I’ve admired Mark MacDonald’s work way back at 1up and his transition into the development side was one that made the industry better in ways that are clearly displayed in Tetris Effect. Tetsuya Mizuguchi first blew me away with Rez and Lumines and has since inspired me to consider games as pieces of interactive art at the purest level. So getting a chance to interview them both was a dream come true.
Viewpoints: Modern Warfare’s Campaign Is Fun But It Plays With Fire
I sat down with Tim Rogers and Joshua Rivera to discuss the questionable tone and revisionist history displayed in a game we actually enjoyed.
Viewpoints: The Uncertain Future of Loot Boxes
One of the benefits of working with so many brilliant writers and reporters was getting the chance to sit down with them and talk about things impacting the video game world in real-time. I sat down with the one and only Heather Alexandra to talk about the thorny topic of randomized loot boxes in games and how the predatory practice might be starting to get some forms of regulation.
Viewpoints: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Continues The Series’ Renaissance
I sat down with one of my favorite voices in the gaming media, Gita Jackson, to talk about our love for Fire Emblem: Three Houses which we got a chance to see together early at E3 in 2019 and covered extensively together at Kotaku in written and video form.
Viewpoints: We Need A Spotify For Classic Games
Resident retro game expert Chris Kohler and I sat down to discuss the slippery slope of games preservation and access to titles that are easy to get lost as formats constantly evolve.
